October on its Way

Wow! Yesterday my family and I were at an MSU Men's soccer game in East Lansing and it was sunny and warm out. Today, true to Fall form, it is rainy, dark, cool and very windy. I love the cooler weather; it makes me want to craft. I have so many ideas swimming around in my mind I will need a vacation to get them even down on paper. My two favorite October girls will be having their birthdays this Sunday. I love thinking of the gift that would be perfect for them. Sydney will be four years old and she is VERY easy to buy for. Danielle is easy to buy for too, but because she is my partner in CRAFT, I try to come up with something a bit more special. In case she reads this I won't go into detail - let's just say that it will be great - hehehehehe!!

My next show is in October, it is the Holidays in Haslett show at the Haslett High School. It is October 17 and always proves to be one of the top shows of the year. It falls right before Halloween so I will have the last of the Halloween goodies there, but I will have a fair amount of Christmas there too. I know my friends who shop the show always get their first snowmen there.

My work is gearing up to be VERY busy until April; finding crafting time takes a bit of creativity (you'd think I would be good at that - hmmm). As I sit in the quiet lobby of the Indoor Arena I hear the wind whipping around outside making our vinyl dome moan. My craft bag is sitting here by me -- beckoning me to create. Ah, but alas, I will have to take it home. I promise to work on my craft tonight.

Until next time...

Show Success

Hey! The Uncle John's Cider Mill Arts and Crafts Fall 2009 show was a super success. It was a beautiful weekend filled with fun and inspiration. Danielle and I met many creative and funny crafters from all over Michigan. The two directly behind us were a Mother-daughter duo from Chesaning and giggled as much as we did.

It was a record-breaking show for us as we sold so much of our Fall and Halloween items we had to stock up with Christmas on Sunday. Getting reaquainted with our snowmen buddies is always heartwarming! Cinnamon grunged fabrics and sweet annie filled the air as we hung our snowmen on my neighbors discarded window screens - thanks Jerry!

I am inspired to create more wonderful creations for the next show in Haslett. I didn't have alot of time to make many Halloween items for this show and was skeptical about whether I would sell anything. But I did sell and everyone was smiling, giggling and buying my wares. They said that we should have a store and to keep making stuff that was "so cute." So I will make time to do what I love and see you at the next show!

Fall is in the air!

It's coming - Fall is coming! The nights are cold, the mornings are brisk and cool and the days are warm but not too warm. Why wouldn't anyone love fall?

Danielle and I have been crafting daily to get ready for the Uncle John's Cider Mill Arts and Crafts show this weekend. We will be setting up for the two-day event on Friday evening. I get so excited before a show. It makes me so happy - I wish I could craft full-time.

I have been stitching felted pumpkins, halloween cookies in the shapes of candy corn and pumpkins, and crafting make-dos for fall and Halloween. The little expressions on each pumpkin makes me smile. I've even been caught cooing to a pumpkin or skeleton while at a show! All of our creations were made with love and the expressions on their faces make us smile. We giggle all through the show.

Last year a hurricane was hitting Florida during the Uncle John's show and the rains and winds were felt all the way up here in Michigan. It was a soggy, rainy and windy show. Very few people ventured out on Saturday and even fewer on Sunday. The die-hard followers showed up and even purchased our witches boots, doornies and candle mats. On Sunday, even in the rain, Danielle and I giggled and took the "slow" time to reinvent our booth. It is because of that show that we set up our booth the way we do.

So if you're up near St. Johns, Michigan this weekend, September 19 and 20, stop by and see Danielle and I in our Fabric Confections booth!

Until next time,

SUE

First Day Blog!

This is my first blog. I have been contemplating starting a blog for some time now and my now has arrived. I can not wait to start communicating with friends and crafters that have similar views as I do.

I will be more creative here and at home from now on.

Woohoo!!
